When I rolled into Napa Valley in a 1979 Minnie Winnie Motorhome in flip flops baseball cap and boardies, little did I know the impact that it would have on me all these years later.
Arriving in Napa Valley was a dream come true.
If you're a foodie and wine enthusiast then there really isn't many better places on earth. Travelling as a poor young man my journey from Seattle to San Diego was mainly on budget, but I'd read about Napa and this was my time to blow what little I had.
The people, the culture and the attitude towards producing amazing food and wine was like nothing I'd ever experienced.
All these years later I am left bamboozled as to why we still haven't seen a breakthrough of US wine into the UK. So I have decided to made it my mission to ensure The Big Wine Shop champions smaller Californian wine producers in the UK.
What this space.
